The Spirit of Lying
-
One of the holy angels, Phanuel the angel over repentance, gave Hermas much instruction and admonishment on speaking nothing but truth so that we can secure life for ourselves and abstaining from falsehood so that we may live unto Ahayah Alahayim:
Shepard of Hermas Mandate 3:
1[28]:1 Again he saith to me; "Love truth, and let nothing but truth proceed out of thy mouth, that the Spirit which Alahayim made to dwell in this flesh, may be found true in the sight of all men; and thus shall the Lord, Who dwelleth in thee, be glorified; for the Lord is true in every word, and with Him there is no falsehood.
1[28]:2 They therefore that speak lies set the Lord at nought, and become robbers of the Lord, for they do not deliver up to Him the deposit which they received. For they received of Him a spirit free from lies. This if they shall return a lying spirit, they have defiled the commandment of the Lord and have become robbers."
1[28]:3 When then I heard these things, I wept bitterly. But seeing me weep he saith, "Why weepest thou?" "Because, Sir," say I "I know not if I can be saved." "Why so?" saith he. "Because, Sir," I say, "never in my life spake I a true word, but I always lied deceitfully with all men and dressed up my falsehood as truth before all men; and no man ever contradicted me, but confidence was placed in my word. How then, Sir," say I, "can I live, seeing that I have done these things?"
1[28]:4 "Your supposition," he saith, "is right and true, for it behooved thee as a servant of Alahayim to walk in truth, and no complicity with evil should abide with the Spirit of truth, nor bring grief to the Spirit which is holy and true." "Never, Sir," say I, "heard I clearly words such as these."
1[28]:5 "Now then," saith he, "thou hearest. Guard them, that the former falsehoods also which thou spakest in thy business affairs may themselves become credible, now that these are found true; for they too can become trustworthy. If thou keep these things, and from henceforward speak nothing but truth, thou shalt be able to secure life for thyself. And whosoever shall hear this command, and abstain from falsehood, that most pernicious habit, shall live unto Alahayim."
-
To aid us in truth to abstain from the spirit of Lying, we also need love for long-suffering with that love for truth:
Testament of Dan 2:1-5
1 And now, my children, behold I am dying, and I tell you of a truth, that unless ye keep yourselves from the spirit of lying and of anger, and love truth and longsuffering, ye shall perish.
-
It is important to keep from the spirit of Anger as well because it is a spirit that deters from the truth when it is at work with the help of other spirits like Deceit Hatred and Lying:
2 For anger is blindness, and does not suffer one to see the face of any man with truth. 3 For though it be a father or a mother, he behaveth towards them as enemies; though it be a brother, he knoweth him not; though it be a prophet of the Lord, he disobeyeth him; though a righteous man, he regardeth him not; though a friend, he doth not acknowledge him. 4 For the spirit of anger encompasseth him with the net of deceit, and blindeth his eyes, and through lying darkeneth his mind, and giveth him its own peculiar vision. 5 And wherewith encompasseth it his eyes? With hatred of heart, so as to be envious of his brother.
-
There we see Anger, Hatred and Envy are also spirits at work in helping the spirit of Lying and Lying also helps those spirits work in us to cause us to sin. We also have to be mindful of Wrath as it and Lying assist one another at the right hand of Satan:
Testament of Dan 4:1-7
1 Understand ye, therefore, the power of wrath, that it is vain. 2 For it first of all giveth provocation by word; then by deeds it strengtheneth him who is angry, and with sharp losses disturbeth his mind, and so stirreth up with great wrath his soul. 3 Therefore, when any one speaketh against you, be not ye moved to anger, and if any man praiseth you as holy men, be not uplifted: be not moved either to delight or to disgust. 4 For first it pleaseth the hearing, and so maketh the mind keen to perceive the grounds for provocation; and then being enraged, he thinketh that he is justly angry. 5 If ye fall into any loss or ruin, my children, be not afflicted; for this very spirit maketh a man desire that which is perishable, in order that he may be enraged through the affliction. 6 And if ye suffer loss voluntarily, or involuntarily, be not vexed; for from vexation ariseth wrath with lying. 7 Moreover, a twofold mischief is wrath with lying; and they assist one another in order to disturb the heart; and when the soul is continually disturbed, the Lord departeth from it, and Beliar ruleth over it.
3:6 This spirit goeth always with lying at the right hand of Satan, that with cruelty and lying, his works may be wrought.
-
Temperance in all things receiving everything as good from Alahayim aids in avoiding vexation so as not to give rise to Wrath with Lying and the other spirits that seek to cause us to sin. Seeing the relationship between Lying and Wrath along with how Anger works, we have these commandments to helps us abide in truth with Alahayim:
Testament of Dan 5:1-3
1 Observe, therefore, my children, the commandments of the Lord, and keep His law; Depart from wrath, and hate lying, that the Lord may dwell among you, and Beliar may flee from you. 2 Speak truth each one with his neighbor. So shall ye not fall into wrath and confusion; but ye shall be in peace, having the Alahayim of peace, so shall no war prevail over you. 3 Love the Lord through all your life, and one another with a true heart.
Testament of Gad 7:3
3 Seek out the judgements of the Lord, and thy mind will rest and be at peace
Testament of Dan 6:1-2, 8
1 And now, fear the Lord, my children, and beware of Satan and his spirits. 2 Draw near unto Alahayim and unto the angel that intercedeth for you, for he is a mediator between Alahayim and man, and for the peace of Israel he shall stand up against the kingdom of the enemy.
6:8 Keep, therefore, yourselves, my children, from every evil work, and cast away wrath and all lying, and love truth and long-suffering.
-
Christ is that angel who is the mediator between Alahayim and man that we must draw near to in humility because Alahayim resists the proud but has respect unto the lowly. If we keep Christ's commandments, He will manifest himself to us and He and the Father well come dwell with us so we can have peace:
John 14:21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 14:23 Yache answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
-
Lying is of the Devil and he is a liar himself. If we continue in lying to fulfil the lusts of the Devil, it will show us to be his children instead of Alahayim's.
Joh 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it
1Jn 3:8
He that committeth sin, is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning: for this purpose the Son of Alahayim was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
-
Christ was manifested to destroy the lustful works of the devil so that those who believe in Him and do his commandments may overcome the lustful works of the Devil by Alahayim willing and working in them to be true and deal truly at all times abstaining from Falsehood and Lying. Lying is abominable to Alahayim as He himself is true in every word and with him is no falsehood like the Angel told Hermas:
Pro 12:22
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly, are his delight.
-
They that deal truly delight Him as its His spirits at work in the soul and its a representation of Him in the earth by not sinning in false dealings or lying to fulfill the lusts of the Devil.
Pro 13:5
A righteous man hateth lying: ...
-
A righteous man has the same desires as Alahayim and has pleasure in His commandments so he hates lying like Alahayim and His spirits who are free from lies.
Pro 13:5
...but a wicked man is loathsome, and commeth to shame.
-
by precept, the shame a wicked man would come to can be Lying as that spirit carries shame:
Sir 20:26
The disposition of a liar is dishonourable, and his shame is ever with him.
-
Being loathsome shows the spirit of Hatred at work and it's the catalyst in bringing a hateful person unto the shame of the spirit of Lying. Hatred always mates with Lying so they work hand in hand:
Testament of Gad 5:1
1 Hatred, therefore, is evil, for it constantly mateth with lying, speaking against the truth; and it maketh small things to be great, and causeth the light to be darkness, and calleth the sweet bitter, and teacheth slander, and kindleth wrath, and stirreth up war, and violence and all covetousness; it filleth the heart with evils and devilish poison.
-
Understanding this, a person has to be mindful of spirit of Hatred as well when wanting to avoid the spirit of Lying as lying can be a result of Hatred at work:
Pro 26:28
A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
-
Lying shows hatred towards those who are being lied to as opposed to truth being a work of love. By the precepts, Lying isn't ever a work of Love but its actually a hurtful mechanism mating with Hatred:
Pro 25:18
A man that beareth false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow
-
On the other hand, being faithful to be honest and not lie is actually helpful and delivers souls:
Pro 14:25
A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
Pro 14:5
A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
-
Speaking the truth shows forth the righteousness of Alahayim and there is a sure reward of entering the Kingdom to come when one is free from lies nor has any love for them either:
Pro 12:17
He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
Pro 11:18
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
-
Christ testified in the book of Revelations of the sure reward for our good works to have right to the Tree of Life and enter the gates of the City. We are also told the truth that liars shall not enter into the kingdom:
Rev 22:12
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Rev 22:13
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Rev 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Rev 22:15
For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Rev 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death
-
This, along with the necessity to return a pure spirit to the Lord, are reasons why we must abstain and not have pleasure in the spirit of lying or any lie since there is no good reward from Alahayim for fulfilling the lusts of the Devil to do so. The Holy Spirit testified in David that those who speak truth in their heart and work (do) righteousness will abide in the Holy hill.
Psa 15:1
A Psalm of David. Ahayah, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
Psa 15:2
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
-
We MUST BE MINDFUL not to entertain or use any lies in our heart, mind, or mouth to cause anyone or ourselves to stumble.
Sir 7:12-13
Devise not a lie against thy brother: neither doe the like to thy friend. 13 Use not to make any manner of lie: for the custom thereof is not good.
Sir 20:24-25
A lie is a foul blot in a man, yet it is continually in the mouth of the untaught. 25 A thief is better than a man that is accustomed to lie: but they both shall have destruction to heritage.
-
Lying is a symptom of a person that is untaught as the person is unaware of the gravity of the affect of the pleasure they have in being accustomed to lying is actually going to lead to the lake that burns with fire in the second death. Continuing in lying or other sins also makes a person susceptible to give ear to the evil as the evil spirits aid each other to persuade us to give heed to their words.
Pro 17:4
A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
-
Here we see, doing evil makes us vulnerable to giving heed to evil and continuing in the spirit of Lying also does the same. This is why we have to love truth and keep the Law which is the truth so that we can grow in being susceptible to giving heed to the truth at all times and grow out of giving heed to false lips and naughty tongues. In helping us be true at all times, what we speak we must perform and do or it makes us a liar because the thing we said did not come to pass. We have to be mindful of our speech so that we do not avouch something and not perform it.
Sir 4:29
Be not hasty in thy tongue, and in thy deeds slack and remiss..
-
Through the precepts Yache gives us more understanding on the power of the words we speak.
Mat 5:33-37
Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto Ahayah thine oaths: 34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is Alahayim's throne: 35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. 36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. 37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
-
Yache taught the fullness of understanding vows and being mindful of what you say because what you speak is a vow for you or against you by the definition of the word for speaking. When you say something you are actually making "a declaration, promise, or avouchment," so there is no need to swear by Ahayah’s name in an oath because what you speak is already a promise. Hence we have to be very mindful of what we say and do what we say we are going to do. We will have to give account for every word we speak at the judgement seat.
Definition:
H559
אמר
amaro
Ama-ro A primitive root; to say (used with great latitude): - answer, appoint, avouch, bid, boast self, call, certify, challenge, charge, + (at the, give) command (ment), commune, consider, declare, demand, X desire, determine, X expressly, X indeed, X intend, name, X plainly, promise, publish, report, require, say, speak (against, of), X still, X suppose, talk, tell, term, X that is, X think, use [speech], utter, X verily, X yet.
Bantu (Hebrew) Language: “Ama” means to witness or evidence, or testify. {Igbo dialect}
Mat 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
-
Therefore, lying is the last thing one should want to do since we have to give account of our words and be justified or condemned according to our words. The scriptures describe the behavior of idolators, which is in part, making oaths and not keeping them and not caring because they don’t think any harm will come to them, so they continue to make oaths or agreements swearing falsely.
Wis 14:27
For the worshipping of idols not to be named, is the beginning, the cause, and the end of all evil. 28 For either they are mad when they be merry, or prophesie lies, or live unjustly, or else lightly forswear themselves. 29 For insomuch as their trust is in idols which have no life, though they swear falsely, yet they look not to bee hurt.
-
This helps understand its idols at work in thinking we can swear and not be hurt for it because Christ testified that we actually have to give account for every word we speak. So the truth is we will be hurt if we don't come out of lying and falsehood during the grace and opportunity we have in this life to return a true and pure spirit to the Lord
Sir 5:6-9
And say not, His mercy is great, he will be pacified for the multitude of my sins: for mercy and wrath come from him, and his indignation resteth upon sinners. 8 Bind not one sin upon another, for in one thou shalt not be unpunished. 9 Say not, Alahayim will look upon the multitude of my oblations, and when I offer to the most High Ala, he will accept it
Wis 14:30
Howbeit for both causes shall they be justly punished: both because they thought not well of Alahayim, giving heed unto idols, and also unjustly swore in deceit, despising holiness.
Wis 14:31
For it is not the power of them by whom they swear: but it is the just vengeance of sinners, that punisheth always the offence of the unholy.
-
If we don't come out of the idolatry operating in Deciet, Falsehood, and/or Lying, we will be justly punished for not thinking well of Alahayim to put the work in to overcome the spirits of the Devil out of love for our Maker. Yache, gives us clear instruction on what we must do by his prophets:
Zec 8:16
These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
-
Speaking truth and judgment of truth brings peace in the community as well as peace of mind as Gad speake of.
Zec 8:17
And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith Ahayah.
-
After Yache went up into the heavens, He ordained Paul and the Apostles to continue the same message of obedience to the law.
Rom 13:9
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
-
We have read what is to come to understand the spirit of Lying and where it leads as oppose to the love of truth and speaking truth in our heart and with our neighbor. Let us be guileless as little children to work righteousness as our Lord Yache is righteous:
1Jn 3:7
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doth righteousness, is righteous, even as he is righteous.
